7. Rachel Lynn de Rossi grew up in Brooklyn, New York as one of three kids in the de Rossi family. She was always close with both of her siblings though they did have their typical arguments.
8. Growing up she was always a very hyper and outgoing child that would constantly get herself into trouble if she didn't have a way to focus all of her energy. That's where dance came into play.
9. When she was only three years old her mom enrolled her in dance classes at the studio not far from her house. She took to dancing like a fish to water and very quickly became one of the more accomplished dancers in her age group.
10. When she was younger she tended to favor the more traditional styles of ballet, jazz and contemporary but as she got older she started experimenting with other styles of dance like various ballroom styles and hip hop.
11. Hip hop in particular she developed a love for and like in every other style she'd tried she picked up on it quickly and became quite accomplished. All in all she has won almost as many hip hop competitions as she has in any other style she has competed in.
12. While in school, she met Nick Smirnoff. She found him to be absolutely hilarious and they hit it off immediately becoming fast friends. Bonding in part over a shared love for dancing, not to mention they're both two of the shortest 22 year olds you'll ever meet.
13. What began as an innocent friendship, eventually turned into something more once the two hit high school. Truly, Rachel and Nick are the definition of "high school sweethearts". They've been together since before graduation.
14. She is extremely smart and practically made straight As all through school. There were a few times when her grades would slip due to her very full schedule with dancing and also cheerleading.
15. Also while in high school she met Berlin Enderle. The two very quickly became best friends and pretty much inseperable. After high school they both headed to NYU and lived together on campus.
16. During her sophomore year however Rachel tried out for and made it as one of the Knicks city dancers. Her grades slipped severely during the basketball season and eventually she had to make the choice between heading back to NYU for her Junior year or continue with her dance career.
17. She made the difficult decision to pull out of NYU knowing that she can always go back to school and finish her degree once she's no longer able to dance. She danced for the Knicks again the following season fully enjoying every last minute of it and not regretting the decision she made.
18. In February of 2008 Rachel along with her long time boyfriend attended the New York Auditions for the Reality show Dance Star America. As was fully expected  she breezed through the audition process easily making it into the top 20 of the show.
19. In the end she was the winner with Nicky comming in second. She made so many friends over the course of the show and tour and views the show as one of the best experiences of her life. One that she wouldn't trade in for anything else in this world.
20. During the tour Nicky proposed to her onstage at the last stop. She of course said yes and they were married on October 10, 2009.
21. She is currently sharing a house with Nicky in Tarrytown having decided to get out of the city they both grew up in. She is also currently dancing for the talented if not sometimes controversial Dallas Richardson.
